A family tradition now, we took the boys to the Minnesota State Fair where they enjoyed rides, every kind of food on a stick you can imagine, Machinery Hill where they explored every kind of tractor, took a ride on the Skyride, and got to visit all the barn animals. It was an amazing day. Already looking forward to next year.

There is little in this world that beats a summer evening in Minnesota. Add amazing family time, some great food on the barbecue and a John Deere tractor and your day is made. It’s the little things for our family. That’s all it takes. And we soak in every second we can with the people we love.

We have been dreaming about this day since before the boys were even born. Their first camping experience. We took them to Taylors Falls on the St. Croix River and camped on the Wisconsin side of Interstate Park. When we initially arrived there were no sites available, to our incredible disappointment. But while at dinner at a local diner, we called again just to check and a cancellation came through. Praises. It was a fantastic experience. The second evening was spent at a dear friends cabin nearby. Thank you Cecil!

What started as a simple evening outing to buy the boys their first sleeping bags at REI took a quick detour to the Emergency Room when Bennett chucked a big rock right into Nick’s eye, busting it open. No big deal. We didn’t let that slow us down. Well, at least not the boys. Not even when they stripped down to diapers and ran shouting around the waiting room. Jesus take the wheel.

Bless Dad’s heart, because Mom had a migraine. He took these wild buddies to a water park all by himself on Father’s Day. Everyone survived. And obviously had a blast.

The absolute favorite thing to do for these two is OUTSIDE time. Time of year is no issue. We have had to adjust to accommodate. Layering is a must and makes it far more possible to use clothing year round. Much more reasonable for the pocketbook. Hiking in the woods next to our home is a regular request.

One full day, from rise and shine to good night moon, with these busy little nuggets. When naps and bottles came every couple of hours. And fat rolls and giggles were abundant. These two have been on the move since day one and have not slowed down since. They are either sleeping or, like Lewis and Clark, off to discover new lands. Nothing will get in their way.
